We saw off all our clients from the Arumeru River lodge where they headed to the airport and back to the states. All people were sad to leave after a life changing experience on the mountain and on Safari. We were so blessed to be with such a fun eclectic group of Docs. The mountain trip went very smooth. All of our clients made it to high base camp(barafu hut) some with and without Diamox. 13 out of 17 made it to summit and all achieved personal bests. No major injuries except for an injured porter that we gave medical attention to and helped fund his hospital visit. We've heard he's recovered and will start working again soon.
We headed through Niarobi with Jorge and started our trek to the White Nile in Uganda. We made it safely here and got a lot of sleep on the bus. We're so happy to be here in Jinja town. We hope to be getting on the water tomorrow. The water is so warm! Since we're in the middle of the short rainy season here we've been experiencing constant power outages, so apologies for the lack of posts due to frustration. We will probably be doing some voluntering with Softpower and Jessie Stone while we are here. Our friend Jonny will also be joining us in Uganda and a Kili trip too on Nov 5th. We wanted to also post birthday wishes to Dennis on the 26th. We will be calling in the morning....
It was a real surprise and a great treat to get a phone call on my birthday; I greatly appreciate the extra effort it had to have taken to make such an international call. It is also wonderful to get an updated posting on your blog. Good luck with your volunteering with Dr. Stone and her group, and hopeing you have a great trip with your next Kili clients. Katie & Brett: According to our calculations you should have summited Kili within the past 24 hours and are on your way down the mountain by now.
